Nottinghamshire boasts a rich horticultural tradition, stemming from the creation of the great ducal estates of Thoresby, Worksop, Welbeck, and Clumber in the 17th and 18th centuries.

 

This presentation will delve into the extensive gardening heritage preserved in the county. Philip Jones, formerly a local studies librarian, is now an esteemed freelance garden historian. Currently, Philip is conducting research on the Victorian and Edwardian gardens at Newstead Abbey and its head gardeners. Join us for Philip's insightful discussion on the development of these historically significant gardens.

Visitors can attend the talk at the cost of £3
If you wish to join the Arnold Local History Group you can do so also at the annual cost of £10 and entitles you to attend monthly meetings for £1, vote at the AGM and be eligible for election to the committee.
