Football
Did you know that Nottingham is the home to two-time European Cup winners? This being Nottingham Forest Football Club. We are also home to the Oldest Football League Club in the world, Notts County F.C. It was formed in 1862 and was a founder member of the English Football League in 1888, making the club an important part of football history.
Both football stadiums are in walking distance from Nottingham Train Station, with convenient links from Nottingham city centre. Many fans even walk the distance.
Cricket
Nearby to the football stadiums, you’ll find the world famous Trent Bridge, which has seen Test Cricket being playing for over a century. Home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, Trent Bridge is a world-famous cricketing landmark. Recognised as one of the finest cricket venues across the globe, it has acted as host for county and Test cricket since 1838 and is the world's third oldest Test ground. Each summer they host various Test and Vitality matches as well as fixtures during The Hundred.
Horse Racing
Nottinghamshire is also proud to be home of two thoroughbred horse-racing tracks which have been in existance since the 1800s: Nottingham Racecourse and Southwell Racecourse. The history books show racing taking place in Nottingham as far back as 1773 at what’s described as ‘Nottingham Forest’ but by the end of the 19th Century the Nottingham Racecourse had moved to the present site of nearly 300 acres at Colwick Park.
Both courses feature event days including the likes of Ladies Day, Family Fun Day, and Gents Day, meaning there is always something to look forward to throughout the year.
