The Gloworm Festival 2024 once again proved why it’s one of the most beloved events for families in Nottinghamshire. Set in the picturesque Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home of the National Water Sports Centre, this year’s festival was a fantastic celebration of family fun, creativity, and community spirit, offering something for everyone from toddlers to teens, and even parents.
The grounds of Holme Pierrepont Country Park were transformed into a magical wonderland filled with diverse play areas and activity tents. Kids were in their element taking part in creative workshops and joining in interactive experiences. The creative zones were a hub of activity, where little hands busily painted, glued, and glittered their way through various art projects. Meanwhile, the Adventure Zone area saw children (and some brave parents!) mastering the skills of mini-golf, archery and kayaking.
The highlight for many, and a place bustling with families enjoying their time in the sun, was the Main Stage, which hosted an impressive lineup of live performances. From popular children’s entertainers to local musicians, the stage was always buzzing with energy. It was a perfect sunny day to enjoy the main stage, with families basking in the sun, enjoying the entertainment on picnic blankets and camping chairs, sipping refreshing drinks as their kids played around them.
The Tiny Totts Zone was a safe and stimulating environment for the littlest festivalgoers, with soft play areas, storytelling sessions, and interactive activities. This area was the one we enjoyed the most after the Main Stage with our little one just 17 months old. Older kids flocked to The Hive and The Adventure Zone where they could enjoy a fairground, hop wrestling, graffiti workshops and even a mini–Land Rover 4x4 off road course. Another stand out for us was definitely the White Post Farm’s area with animals both big and small, starting from adorable guinea pigs and rabbits and ending with the big boys including alpacas, sheep and even ponies. Our little one really enjoyed all the animals and ran from one area to another with his arms in the air screaming with joy. He also really enjoyed playing in the sand with other kids and discovering treasures hidden beneath the sand’s surface.
Gloworm Festival 2024 was more than just a weekend of entertainment, it was a celebration of creativity, and the simple joys of childhood. The festival’s warm and welcoming atmosphere made it a standout event for us, creating memories that families will cherish for years to come.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly festival that combines fun, education, and a touch of magic, Gloworm is an unmissable event on the Nottinghamshire calendar. We can’t wait to see what the Gloworm Family Festival 2025 has in store heading back to their previous location – Thoresby Park.
