Poster for the musical comedy whodunnit 'Curtains'

About

Squire Performing Arts Centre
Tickets from £10

West Bridgford Operatic Society presents Curtains, a brassy and bloody whodunnit from award winning songwriter duo Kander and Ebb (writers of Cabaret, Chicago and Fosse). The show delivers sublime musical numbers and orchestration, fantastic dance numbers, and joyful comedy!

Set in a theatre in Boston USA, the musical centres around Police Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, a musical theatre fan who is tasked with solving murders within the cast of a fictional 1950s show 'Robbin Hood'. The audience is invited to unravel clues with him whilst simultaneously enjoying being entertained.

The music offers songs which parody the golden age of musicals, interspersed with and sometimes merging with an inventive and often jazzy score that helps to tell the actual story.

Directed by Linda Croston, choreographed by Justine Lee and musically directed by Adam Wright, it's an amazingly enjoyable musical romp and a love letter crammed with in-jokes to all those who have ever worked in theatre.

Suitable for ages 12+

This production includes explicit language, sexual references, murder/violence, guns, hanging, loud noises, smoke/haze, and jokes about religion.
