Clipstone headstocks Museum
Tickets: Exclusive 2-4-1 offer @ £5.04 / General admission @ £9.38
Visitors have a unique opportunity to step back in time and uncover little-known facts about Nottinghamshire’s rich history and heritage. The journey begins in 1885 with the founding of the Raleigh cycle factory, followed by an exploration of the WWI exhibit, which highlights Clipstone’s role as the largest army training camp in Britain during the war, accommodating over 30,000 troops at any given time.
The tour then moves on to WWII exhibits before showcasing Cold War vehicles, a fascinating highlight of the experience. Guests are then taken on an educational journey back to the era when one million tons of coal were extracted beneath the world’s tallest headstocks, located at Clipstone.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a camera and wear sensible footwear. This museum offers an authentic, immersive experience—without glass cabinets or polished floors.
Guided tours take place on the hour, every hour, and last approximately 50 minutes.
Please note that the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the presence of stairs.
Date for your diary - 19th - 20th July I 10am - 5pm
Clipstone at War
A real spectacle as we transform our showground in to a war scene. Vehicles, artillery, soldiers, re-enactors, trade stalls, live period music on stage all day, great food and a bar selling cold ones for just £3. We are supported by large displays of living history and all our team are approachable and happy to talk about their involvement.
£5 per person plus £8 for guided tours of our military and mining museum.
