Venue: Nottingham Contemporary
Price: Free
Join artist Lily Ford for a drop-in workshop for all ages and ability. Reflect on your past and future lives then create plasticine 'seeds' as symbols of hopes and wishes for your future self. Add your miniature sculptures to a large-scale paper cave installation. Enjoy mindful, small-scale creativity.
Lily's artwork is exhibited in Portalis, and this creative activity is an opportunity to explore the themes in her work and experiment with similar materials.
Portalis presents six artists' concepts of the cave, reflecting on personal experiences, memories and associations. The exhibition spans five portal themes: inner self, transformation, spirituality, underworld and adventure.
This is an annual collaboration between Nottingham Contemporary and Nottingham Trent University, where Post and Undergraduate students join their disciplines of Fine Art, Interior Architecture, Photography and Graphic Design to research, produce and document a new exhibition. This year, students responded to the exhibition Hollow Earth: Art, Caves and The Subterranean Imagery.
