RSPB Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre
£13 per person (£10.40 for RSPB members)
Head to the home of the legend of Robin Hood for a guided walk in search of one of Sherwood Forest's most distinctive visiting early summer species – the Redstart!
Redstarts are colourful migratory songbirds which can be found in Sherwood as the warmer months take hold – and it's so important to know that they are here as it is a species that is declining in Europe.
During this leisurely walk, participants will explore the natural habitats of Redstarts, and learn about their behaviour and how to identify them by their call.
Led by experienced birding guides, walkers will hike through the beautiful Sherwood woodland and call at the various locations Redstarts are known to frequent there.
Whether a seasoned birdwatcher or a beginner, this guided walk is the perfect opportunity to learn more about these fascinating birds.
Bring binoculars and cameras to capture the sights and sounds of Redstarts in what is one of their favourite UK summer habitats.
Binocular hire
Visitors that don't have binoculars, you can hire a pair from the Visitor Centre shop. Hire prices start at £3 per day for children's sets.
Adults can hire an RSPB Puffin pair for £5 or Avocet for £7.
