Celebrate Chinese New Year at Nottingham Central Library, in partnership with the Nottingham Confucius Institute.
Nottingham Chinese New Year Gala 2024
Saturday 17th February | 4pm and 5pm (45 minutes)
£7 | £20 family ticket (max two adults and two children)
Join Nottingham Central Library to welcome the year of the dragon with a spectacular 45-minute show filled with music, dance and kung fu! A kaleidoscope of fascinating performances by professional artists including Chinese suona, guzheng and violin music, together with spectacular group-coordinated Kung Fu routines. Each act builds to create a multi-layered experience of both traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, providing the perfect way to welcome the Year of the Dragon.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the University of Nottingham Children Brain Tumour Research Centre (CBTRC).
Tai Chi and Qigong Taster
Wednesday 14th February | 12pm and 1pm (45 minutes)
Max 20 places per session
£3.5 per person
Join Angela for a taster session to experience how the traditional Chinese practice of Tai Chi and Qigong can benefit body, breathing & mind.
Each session includes:
- Gentle body mobilisation, calming the breathing and mind;
- Step-by-step instruction of the movements, learning specific health benefits along the way;
- Flowing through the full routine to experience stillness in motion, accompanied by flowing music.
These taster sessions are ideal for novices to Tai Chi and Qigong. All movements are slow, gentle and low-impact, accessible to all, with the emphasis on working to your own comfort levels. Wearing loose comfortable clothing, wearing flat shoes, or working in bare feet, there is no need for special equipment; just bring yourself and your enthusiasm as Angela shares her passion for Tai Chi and Qigong with you!
