About

Thursday 01 May | 2025 | 10am or 13:00pm

Nottingham Central Library

Join us for our **Bookbinding Workshop** at Nottingham Central Library on Thursday May 01 2025 at 10:00am and 13:00pm for a hands-on experience in the art of bookbinding. Glenn Malkin, award winning professional binder, and Fellow of Designer Bookbinders, will guide you through the process of creating your very own hand-bound book to take home. No previous knowledge of bookbinding required.

You will learn how to make a paper-covered sewn binding. This book structure, also known as a limp paper binding, is ideal for beginners to bookbinding. During this two-hour workshop we shall be using pre-prepared materials to put together this attractive and useful book, sewing the pages together and applying the decorative paper covers. All materials and necessary tools will be provided along with handout notes for you to take away. This is a book you could easily make at home with simple materials and basic tools.

The workshop of is part of a collaborative project of the University of Nottingham, Designer Bookbinders UK and the Nottingham Central Library.
