Bromley House Library

About

Bromley House Library, founded in 1816, is a flourishing independent lending library situated in the centre of Nottingham and is one of the few remaining subscription libraries in the country. The library houses around 50,000 books, newspapers, magazines, and journals. As well as holding special and historic collections we are a working library, buying approximately 1000 books each year.   There are many fine reading rooms spread over three floors of a Grade II* listed Georgian townhouse. In addition, there is a beautiful walled garden, one of only two in the city centre. The library is a pleasant place to work, relax or read, with a members coffee room too.  It has a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere and welcomes new members.

For year-round access to the collections, building and secluded garden why not consider becoming a member, where for the price of several coffees a month you can become part of this literary oasis in the city centre.  Being a member also gives you discounted and free access to events and digital services.

The library is located across three floors, and regrettably we have no lift or disabled access at present. If you have any questions regarding access, please contact the library direct.

Visiting - The library does run guided tours throughout the year; however, these are very popular and advance booking is required.  Whilst the library is not open for ad hoc visits, if you were interested in joining, please contact the library to discuss an appointment to discuss membership.
