With February half-term almost here, we’re excited to help you plan a perfect family getaway that won’t break the bank during the school break. Whether you’re seeking fun activities for the kids or looking to enjoy some quality time together, these free events are the ideal way to make the most of your time without stretching your budget.

1. Museum Explorers
An afternoon filled with all the museum discoveries, Museum Explorers is an adventurous option to discover and is absolutely free of cost! It’s Suitable for ages 7+ and invites kids to dive into creative projects while learning about ancient crafts. Join in on February 22nd at Lakeside Arts – no booking required.
2. Tales from the Caves
Get a chance to look out the fascinating history beneath the cave city and explore ancient carvings that have stood the test of time for thousands of years. It’s an incredible experience for the whole family – and best of all, it’s completely free!
3. Green's Windmill
Enjoy FREE admission from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm, and they frequently host seasonal events with voluntary donations or for a small fee, under £10. Explore the life and work of George Green, the famous 19th-century mathematician, climb the levels of Green's Windmill and witness award-winning organic flour being made, or relax on the grass below for a great view of Nottingham and the River Trent valley.
4. Fun weekend at Wollaton Park
Experience a free, fun-filled family weekend surrounded by scenic views, roaming deer, and the iconic Wollaton Hall. As part of the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity, dive into hands-on activities like handling specimens from the Natural History Museum, exploring an inflatable planetarium, building your own rocket, and so much more!
5. Hardwick Village Evening Walkabout
Hardwick Village Social Club makes an amazing and pleasant timeout with the family to go for a discovery of various areas of Clumber Park during this season. This 3-mile walk lasts around for an hour. If you haven’t experienced this walk yet, click here for more details and to get in touch!
6. Pushabout Clumber
Worry not if you look after pushchair-aged children! On every second Monday of the month, this walking group offers a refreshing and scenic walk and supports the parents who look after or have pushchair-aged children. Be sure to set aside a Sunday for this lovely outing with your family!
7. Weekly Dog Walking Socials

8. Stonebridge City Farm
Stonebridge City Farm, a free-entry attraction that welcomes guests every day, presents a rural sanctuary in the centre of Nottingham City. The farm and its gardens are completely accessible, so visitors of all ages, including those in wheelchairs and pushchairs, are welcome to explore them. The farm is home to a wide variety of animals, including rabbits, ponies, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and popular Kevin the tortoise.
9. Take on the Nottingham Trail
Get the Nottingham Trail map and print it or simply use the Guidigo app to tour some of Nottingham's finest sites and discover some interesting city facts. There is plenty to see in Nottingham, featuring castles, caves, pubs, prisons, mirrors, and artwork. Based on your pace, the trek takes one to two hours.

Take a journey through Nottingham’s dynamic art exhibitions by exploring our renowned galleries like Nottingham Contemporary, Bonington Gallery, and New Art Exchange, each showcasing a diverse range of creative works and cultural expressions.
