Time for the Lothario ghost of Scotland’s Bard to learn some lessons in modern love...and ghosting!
We’ve all been there, right? You hook up one way or another, you think it's going well then no replies back on any platform (not just Tinder) and silence. Before you move on. That’s ghosting for you.
Nottingham with its romantic history, not just Robin Hood and Maid Marian. We are in the heartland of British Romanticism, Nottinghamshire was briefly home to one of its leading lights, the poet and celebrity Lord Byron; you can experience the romance and mystery of Newstead Abbey, which from 1808 – 1814 was the home to the notorious 'mad, bad, and dangerous to know' Romantic poet.
In our century you can have romantic strolls in the picturesque countryside, to cosy dinners by candlelight, there are plenty of ways to spend a romantic break in Nottinghamshire.
We really do have the ultimate couples getaway right on our doorstep. And if all else fails, woo your potential significant other with a trip to the Forest ground or the National Ice Arena for a Panthers match.
Hey have we met?
Well, if we haven’t met- then Hi, I’m Schuggie, and I run the multi-award-winning Schuggies-Ceilidhs (it’s pronounced ShUUg - eee s – Kay-Laes by the way). I’ve been hosting all sorts of Rabbie Burns adventures in Nottingham for almost 20 years. I’ve even been involved in a few myself😉with Address to the Haggis and Toasting the Lassies. These have been everything from very formal affairs where ladies aren’t allowed through to fast and furious Piper functions in venues right across the city.
So when I had the opportunity to bring The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns to Nottingham, well I couldn’t resist.
Whether you have found the one true love of your life or are still searching, then The Ghosting of Rabbie will have you smiling and dancing along.
18th Century Romance meets 21st Century Modern Dating in this critically acclaimed hit comedy-drama by Gillian Duffy. An intimate date with the writer of Auld Land Syne, which includes everything from love, dating, breakups and, most importantly, ghosting – what better way to kickstart your Burns Night celebrations?
Heartbroken author Emily Winters takes herself away to her aunt’s old cottage in Ayrshire, Scotland, to get over her cheating ex. As she celebrates Burns Night alone (wishing that the right man would show up), she gets a visitation slightly different than what she’d hoped for. The ghost of Robert Burns appears to give her some dating advice – and he knows what he’s talking about.
Featuring the great songs and poems of Robert Burns, such as My Love is Like a Red Red Rose🌹, Ae Fond Kiss, Charlie is my Darlin & of course... Auld Lang Syne, this hilarious comedy proves that love & relationships haven’t changed that much in 200 years after all.
Hosted by Schuggies-Ceilidhs at the Belgrave Rooms Iconic suite; right in the heart of Burns season, in the centre of Nottingham this really is an experience not to be missed.
