Saturday 25th November | National Ice Centre | 2.30pm – 4.30pm | From £9 (Under 5s go free, family discounts also available)

Be the first to skate in a Christmas themed rink as Christmas skating is officially launched at the National Ice Centre. They will be joined by Jo and Sparky from Gem at Breakfast as they turn on the magical Christmas lights before the first festive skating session begins! 

The rink and tree will be twinkling as you skate so it's going to be magical.

Who is this for?

Perfect for students, families, and everyone in between! They have a range of price discounts including a family discount, with under 5s skating for free. If you can’t make it this weekend, we recommend checking out their Grotto in December.


Christmas at Kelham Hall

Sunday 26th November | The Renaissance at Kelham Hall | 11am - 4pm | £5 per person (children Under 16: Free)

Join the Renaissance at Kelham Hall for a magical, festive celebration and get ready to immerse yourself in the joy and wonder of the holiday season.

You can expect delicious festive food and drink stalls, a walkaround LED Angel, live music, spot our special Reindeer visitors, and a special visit from the man himself… Santa!

Patchings Christmas Market

Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November | Patchings Art Centre |10am – 4pm each day | Free admission and free parking

Bigger and better than ever, Patchings Christmas market returns with a bang!

With stall holders in Patchings Pavilion, Barn and Crew Yard Galleries, there will be a huge range of artists, artisans, textiles, jewellery and more to browse. This three-day market is free admission with easy access free parking too. Enjoy all that Patchings has to offer over the Christmas Market, including, Art Shop, Gift Shop, Framing Centre, Café, and Artist Trail.

Who is this for?

Perfect for those embarking on their Christmas shopping, or the perfect low-cost activity to get you out and about this weekend. From their walking trail to the café, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.


Meet Santa at Creswell Crags

4. Meet Santa at Creswell Crags

Saturdays & Sunday from 25th November – 17th December | Creswell Crags | 10am - 4.30pm | £8 per child

Santa will be visiting Creswell Crags again this year! Join him in their crafting room, making your own take home crafts while you wait to see the big guy. Each family will get to visit Santa in his grotto when their number is called, and each child you have bought a ticket for will be given an age-appropriate Christmas present.

If you book your car parking in advance online then you will also be given a car parking permit from the reception team which is valid until 14th January so you can come back and park for free anytime you visit until that date.

Narnia at Newstead

Saturday 25th November 2023 - Monday 1st January 2024 (weekends and school holidays) | Newstead Abbey | Various times and prices

Enjoy an enchanting Christmas at Newstead this festive period with magical installations and a self-led walk through the historic house.

Book a family friendly tour, indulge in afternoon tea, enjoy a Christmas dinner or book an exclusive evening tour. Entry to the house and Narnia at Newstead is included in the meal tickets.

During weekends, you can also browse craft stalls in the medieval cloisters that offer a range of crafts and gifts. Explore the park and gardens with a wintery walk or self-led outdoor trail, and be inspired by festive gifts and treats in the cafe and shop.

A fantastic day out for all ages, this delightful display is an annual tradition for many locals. We recommend browsing the craft stalls to pick up some unique gifts for your loved ones this Christmas.
