1. Hockley Hustle
Sunday 22 October 2023 | Various venues and times | Tickets: £11 - £16.50
Hockley Hustle returns this weekend, featuring 100s of acts on stages across Hockley, and starring local talent from all genres and forms.
Various venues and the streets of Hockley itself will be full of fantastic music, performers, art, food and, for the icing on the cake, they’re raising more money for local charities while they’re at it. You can expect everything from Hip Hop and Electric sets at Metronome to Drag Bingo at Hockley Arts Club, and headliners including PASTE and Pillow Fort.
Expect to find every ounce of the best creative talent the city has to offer, as they once again gather to throw the party of the year, all while giving something back to the local community.
2. Spectacle of Light at Rufford Country Park
Friday 20 - Sunday 22 October | Rufford Country Park | Entry from 5pm to 7pm | Tickets: From £11
Discover some of the amazing characters from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz at Rufford Country Park. Follow Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion as they travel to the Emerald City!
You can also let the little ones scale the Abbey walls and enjoy the night-time wonder of the Adventure Play Area or follow the yellow brick road through the spooky woodland, the field of poppies and the curve tunnel of light as you enjoy the amazing illuminated gardens. And what visit would be complete without some delicious drinks like mulled wine and hot chocolate as you walk along the trail? You can tuck into scrumptious hot food for all the family the in the Abbey Courtyard and Adventure Play Area.
If you miss the festivities this weekend, you can also catch the Spectacle of Light at Rufford Country Park from 25 - 29 October and 1- 5 November.
3. Halloween at Manor Farm Park & Woodlands
Saturday 21 - Tuesday 31 October | Manor Farm Park & Woodlands | Open daily 10am to 5pm
From 21st to 31st October 2023, you can join Manor Farm Park & Woodlands and explore their spooky maize maze and experience Ghoul School in the woodlands. There's also a free pumpkin for every paying child to carve and take home, making it the perfect October day out for the whole family!
During your visit, animal lovers can also enjoy meeting some animals in the paddock or the Animal Chat Room. There are also daily falconry displays (weather permitting) at 11.30am and 1pm. For only an additional £1pp you can eben enjoy owl holding at 11am and from 1.15pm. For those with adventurous little ones, they are sure to enjoy the dinosaur Discovery Trail, Indoor Playbarn or one of the outdoor playgrounds.
To top off the perfect October day out, we reccomend enjoying a bite to eat in their Antlers Bistro or the Laughing Donkey Cafe.
4. King David's Dungeon Halloween Tours at Nottingham Castle
Saturday 21 October - Sunday 5 November | Nottingham Castle | Timed slots upon booking | Tickets: £5 per person (Carers & under 2’s are free) Normal Castle entry fees apply.
Get ready to embark on a ghost hunting adventure, exploring the depths of the castle dungeon in search of the legendary Robin Hood. Investigate the Sheriff of Nottingham’s kitchen and Prince John’s private wine cellar to learn about the terrible deeds that took place there. You’ll discover the gruesome stories of the Nottingham Castle ghosts that will haunt you until next Halloween!
Although the tour is family friendly, the venue recommends a minimum age of 4 years for the experience as some elements may scare younger children.
5. The Nottingham Panthers v Sheffield Steelers
Saturday 21 October | Motorpoint Arena Nottingham | 7pm | Tickets: From £13.50
The Nottingham Panthers are the only professional ice hockey team in the East Midlands. Playing out of the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham Panthers’ games provide an atmosphere like no other and it’s suitable for all ages, whether you’re looking to start your night with something different or spend some time with the family.
The action is fast, non-stop & physical as the Panthers battle it out with teams across the Premier Sports Elite League for the points that will take them to top of the standings & put them in contention for the league title when the season ends.
