This Halloween, The National Justice Museum beckons the brave to embark on a spine-chilling journey through history with their Condemned Halloween Tour.

Your tour guide, eccentric in manner and dressed for the occasion in period costume, will unveil a world of macabre true crimes that led unfortunate individuals to the County Gaol located in the heart of the city. But beware, this guided tour is not for the faint of heart and is recommended for those aged 18 and above.
As you step back in time, you'll stand in the very dock where the guilty once stood, illuminated eerily through candlelight alone and hear the harrowing and sometimes unbelievable tales of the crimes that sealed their fates. The experience provides a sobering look into the lives of those who met their doom, both men, women and even that of a 15 year old girl, within the Gaol's foreboding walls. Here you can decide if the sentences passed were fitting for the crimes committed through the medium of your expert guide who presents an often darkly funny and uncomfortable account of history!
Venture down narrow staircases and passages into the dimly lit cells of the gaol. Follow the very route these people would have taken and ultimately find the grim final stop for the condemned, often reputed to be haunted. Standing in a cell, can you feel the weight of the prisoner’s impending fate or indeed the presence of anyone in there with you? The tour reaches its unsettling climax in the courtyard, where the ominous gallows loom, and the bodies of the condemned were laid to rest beneath your very feet. Take a moment to consider the doomed prisoners, awaiting their end and taking exercise in the small yard, knowing that they would join those beneath their feet in a matter of days!
