If you've yet to make plans for New Years Eve, there are plenty of events in Nottingham to see the new year in with style. Take a look at our favourite five events for an unforgettable start to 2019. 

Street Party in the Square
 

Old Market Square | Winter Wonderland open throughout the day, music from 9.30pm

This New Year's Eve, Nottingham will welcome in 2019 on Old Market Square with a huge free street party and a spectacular fireworks display. DJ Steve Matthews will playing some of the biggest songs from 2018 to get the party started as the city prepares for the big midnight moment. As the bells of the Council House clock chime midnight, the skies will be lit with an incredible 7-minute firework and pyrotechnic display before a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne. Just turn up and enjoy the party, or book a table in the cosy Sur La Piste bar, a session in the amazingly cool ice bar, or drinks in the classy all-glass chalet Bar Altitude for panoramic views over the square, and get your skates on to book one of the last remaining sessions for the outdoor ice rink, running throughout the night.

Party in the Park Estate  

The Walton Hotel | 8pm - Late

The New Year's Eve parties at the stylish Walton Hotel are legendary. The beautiful Grade II listed residence, once a hunting lodge built in the early 1800's, is tucked away in a secluded location just 10 minutes walk from the vibrant centre of Nottingham, in the historic and prestigious Park Estate. Now a boutique hotel complete with a renowned restaurant and exquisitely decorated bar, it’s a wonderful place to start 2019. At midnight the crowds gather on their heated terrace for fireworks and an incredible light/sound show by the multi-award winning Electrify Pyrotechnics. Entrance to the bar is free before 10pm and just £5 after, but be sure to get there early as this is a very popular event, or book one of the last remaining tables for a special dinner to see out 2018 in style in the restaurant for £84.95pp, including Champagne and Canapes on arrival.

Great Gatsby Inspired New Year's Eve Party

Calling all budding sleuths and amateur investigators! Allow us to set the scene – it’s New Year’s Eve and Major and Mrs Roderick Smythe have called their friends and family together for a night of festivity to bid farewell to 1923 and welcome in 1924. But, when they count down to the New Year, the lights go out and Mrs Roderick Smythe’s beautiful ruby necklace is stolen! Don your detective hat and tour the historic Shire Hall and old County Gaol, interrogating the suspects and picking up clues to solve the mystery and deduce who the thief is - is it the secretive socialite, Frunella? The emotionless Major, Richmond? Surely it couldn’t be the butler… Will you be able to bring the real thief to justice and retrieve the Roderick ruby? The winner receives a a bottle of fizz.

Get ready to sing your heart out at Nottingham’s communal rock‘n'roll sing along. The live band will be playing great songs that everyone knows - some you might expect as well as more off-beat choices still guaranteed to go down a storm as the crowds raise the roof. There’s always a brilliant atmosphere at these events, and on the biggest party night of the year you can bet things are going to be special, with the brilliant Doodle Crew DJ’s on the decks before, in between and after the house band, spinning great tunes until the early hours.
