I enjoyed a Tempeh burger with halloumi on a pretzel bun with rosemary and garlic oil fries, washed down with a nutella milkshake. I am so excited to have found this NottingYummy veggie burger! I believe it’s the only place in Nottingham to have this soya bean based patty which I’d never tried before and am elated at never having to make-do with the usual vegetarian ‘after-thought’ addition to a menu, which is usually a crumbly and tasteless excuse, ever again! I piled my tempeh high with all the trimmings including pickles, salad and onions all for under £5 – such great value for a quality meal. I have to say I haven’t stopped telling everyone about it since – thank you to Ed and his team, the vegetarians of Nottingham salute you.

I absolutely loved Griddle & Shake’s build-a-burger style menu, which Ed and the team have clearly worked so hard with to make sure all every part of the restaurant’s menu is delicious.  I enjoyed a classic Chicken burger with cheddar, tomato and mayo on a pretzel bun – simple but so tasty! Fries-wise, Griddle & Shake have more types of fries on their menu than I could shake a milkshake at; the parmesan fries with bacon were delicious, which I’ll be going back to order again! I also got to try a signature strawberry milkshake and the malteser, speculoos chocolate milkshake (a combination I hadn’t even thought of) was particularly yummy. The menu is especially well priced with a regular burger with a choice of toppings starting at only £4.60. There is also the option to make a meal deal out of the menu where you can pick either a burger or wings, and pair this with a side and ice-cream milkshake of your choice for only £9.50 (regular) and £11.50 (large)! For great burgers, great drinks and great service – Griddle & Shake has it all!

We know Ed well from his wonderful Clock House Cafe at Upton so we were very excited when we knew he was bringing his new concept to the Creative Quarter. I had been seduced by Ed’s heartfelt strategy for the restaurant which saw them buy in their own equipment to make everything fresh and to their own very high, ethical standards. So I chose a beef burger on a brioche bun and eagerly headed to the serving area so I could choose my extras. Crispy bacon, mature cheddar, grilled onions and mushroom on a bed of tomato salsa – and I wasn’t as greedy as some of my colleagues! I particularly enjoyed the parmesan fries with bacon – delish – and whilst never considering myself partial to milkshakes, I soon polished off the glass of chocolate, malteser and speculoos shake that was offered to me. Well, I didn’t want to be rude...  So a massive thumbs-up to Ed and his delightful team – your cow sheds are ace too!

Sometimes, only a burger will do - so I was extremely excited to try the latest addition to Nottingham’s restaurants, Griddle and Shake. There seems to be a real trend for restaurants where you can build your own meal at the moment, selecting from a large range of ingredients to craft your perfect dinner. At Griddle and Shake, you can be as greedy as you like and add as many toppings as you want to your custom-made burger - my final creation was as imposing as it was delicious! I also enjoyed the parmesan and bacon (yes bacon!) sprinkled chips before following the package up with a fantastically thick Malteser flavoured milkshake. Griddle and Shake definitely got the thumbs up from the EN team!
