WIN tickets to Matt Goss' glamorous show at Nottingham's ALEA Casino

Singer, songwriter and author Matt Goss made his name as one of the founding members of the legendary 1980s band Bros. In recent years he has performed his headline show, the Gossy Room, to sell-out crowds at the famous Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Now he is bringing a sprinkle of that glamour to the UK with a nationwide tour which includes a sell-out date at Nottingham's ALEA casino on 29th January. We caught up with Matt to find out more about his show and to offer one lucky person the chance to experience it before meeting the man himself. Hi Matt. There are a lot of people who are very excited about your Nottingham date – have you played in the city before? I have not played here recently but I really can’t wait to. I wanted to come back to the UK for a few weeks so I thought I’d do a series of shows out here. Caesar’s owns casinos over here so I wanted to come and experience them. Can you tell me a little about your UK tour? I’m going to be playing at around seven venues, including the Manchester Ritz and London Palladium, as well as the ALEA casino in Nottingham. This is my way of bringing the energy of Las Vegas to cities in the UK so I’m bringing my showgirls and band with me – I’m really looking forward to it. How do you think your UK shows compare to Vegas? I’m used to playing to huge crowds but this intimate show works brilliantly. When people come to my shows they always get dressed up, with the fellows in Rat Pack-style suits and the women in cocktail dresses. It’s a glamorous night out but it’s also a little edgy – it’s definitely not a tribute show. I’m now in my seventh year at Caesar’s Palace which shows how popular it is. And what about the UK audience? In the UK people know me so I always get a beautiful response when I come back. I have been through so much lately - I lost my mum last year and it rocked me to the core. It was the most challenging day of my life. This is an extremely challenging time for me so it was the right time for me to come back to my roots. What sort of evening can people expect at your show? This is a very elegant night out. The people who come to my shows want to get dressed up and see my showgirls and band on stage. The costumes are beautiful and my dancers are incredibly beautiful. It’s going to create a big sound in the venue – I can’t wait. I’m going to be playing some of the swing standards as well as a couple of Bros songs and some covers. There is not one genre and it’s a show which will leave you feeling energised. Jerry Lewis [US entertainer who worked with Dean Martin] once came to one of my shows and gave me an incredible quote – he said that my sound was like the Count Basie Orchestra. I’m really looking forward to bringing this kind of real honest musicianship and show time to Nottingham.” [Please note this competition is now closed]
