Food fans will be in for a treat this week when the Taste of the Great Notts Show comes to Nottingham. In today's guest blog, Lizzy Freeman from All About Tourism, which organises the event, writes about what you can expect.
Exciting news for all your foodies out there - this year’s first installment of Taste of the Great Notts Show will be taking place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Nottingham's Smithy Row. There will also be a second event at the end of the month so don't worry if you don't get to try everything the first time round.
These events are a 'taste' of the Great Notts Show which took place in June and was a great success. The aim is to showcase the rich variety of producers, chefs and other traders which Nottinghamshire and the surrounding area has to offer.
Just like the Great Notts Show, the Taste events showcase local producers who are passionate about what they do. These events are not just about eating a lot of food, although that is a very enjoyable part of it. They are about finding new produce and learning from people who love food.
Once again, Nottingham's famous butcher Johnny Pusztai, from JT Beedham & Sons, will be serving delicious sausages, bacon as well as an exciting new product to thrill the public. Johnny, pictured top, told us that he loves coming to these sort of events so he can meet his customers and taste test the different foods out there.
He added: "We are really excited to join in with the local spirit at Taste of the Great Notts Show and we know it will be a great success, especially as I am bring my new, mind-blowing product."
At the event you can sample foods and flavours inspired by cultures from around the world. There will be a smorgasbord of snacks, delicacies and street food, as well as paella, a barbecue and real ale. Don't forget to try the many sweet treats on offer which include artisan chocolates, fudge, cakes and rich brownies.
Another highlight of the event is the Great Food and Drink Café which will give you the chance to relax in the garden area while enjoying the refreshments on offer. Mary Morris, the café manager, will be on hand to welcome you so make sure you call in.
As well as food stalls you will also find a huge variety of crafts and jewellery, making this the perfect place to find unique gifts or quirky statement pieces.
