Like many kids in the 1980s I grew up on a staple diet of James Bond. Countless Sunday afternoons were spent watching 007 trying to save the world time and time again; but whilst most girls would imagine themselves as a Bond girl I always quite fancied myself more as something of a James Bond.
My ideals were always indulged and I was told that I could be anything that I wanted to be, and quite right too, although I never did make it as a special agent . . . until today when I became an Si5 agent and revived a secret dream (granted, not so secret and in the public domain now).
Si5 Spy Missions was launched in Nottingham city centre in May of this year and is the perfect experience for any budding special agent . . . junior or senior. Remember the Crystal Maze or Krypton Factor? Combine the two and you have a little taste of what to expect.
The action all takes place aboard a state-of-the-art battle cruiser, the UNS Steadfast. Teams of ‘special agents’ (you!) work together in 16 different areas of the ship, over two levels, tackling a series of challenges and obstacles such as laser beams, cameras and alarms. Working together your objective is to prevent a group of insurgents from launching the onboard nuclear missiles. Puzzles will perplex you but you’ll just throw yourself into the task in hand as I quite literally did, crawling into rooms to make sure the cameras didn’t detect me or my attempt at a commando roll through laser beams which I felt was quite impressive . . . at the time!
The concept is quite simple; stop the terrorists from launching the nuclear missiles, divert the missiles to a safe zone, thwart the baddies and win the day - simple eh? And all in a day’s work!
There are three levels of difficulty so that all ages groups from six and over can take part. Teams are presented with physical, dexterity or mental challenges to solve before moving onto the next stage of the adventure, all with the clock ticking! By facing up to five of the 16 challenges as part of each adventure every visit to Spy Missions is also guaranteed to be unique. Teams start their adventure every 10 minutes so there is also no chance of meeting another group on your mission making the experience feel much more real and individual.
Spy Missions is a perfect choice for kids' birthday parties and for entertaining the little ones, especially with the summer holidays upon us. But in fact, it's also perfect for the big kids amongst us too . . . you know who you are!
This concept is great for anyone that loves action, a challenge and most of all lots of fun. Whether you are planning a kid’s birthday party, a team building day or even a stag or hen party, this is a fantastic idea that has not been seen before.
Si5 Spy Missions is a totally unique attraction to our city and one that is sure to take off. I for one am already planning my next Spy Mission and you should be too!
