The Dark Knight returns to Wollaton Hall

For a second consecutive year, Wollaton Hall, in Nottingham, will host a very special outdoor cinema experience in August, with screenings of The Dark Knight Rises, Gravity and Grease as part of the Summer Nights Outdoor Film Festival 2014.

Presented on a giant screen by QUAD, Derby's centre for art and film, Summer Nights offers the chance to enjoy the great outdoors for a unique cinematic experience and will tour to other iconic locations around the region.

Wollaton Hall, which plays the role of ‘Wayne Manor’ in The Dark Knight Rises, has already garnered much attention due to its Hollywood role, and the screenings will provide a stunning backdrop for the events.

On 22 – 24 August 2014, bring your picnic and your family, friends or date and sample the tasty treats on offer at the scenic location of Wollaton Hall. The 500-acres of spectacular gardens and parkland are an ideal venue to be whisked away into a magical film dreamland.

• Friday 22 August 2014, doors open from 7pm: Gravity (12A)

The film that swept the boards at this year’s Academy Awards, winning seven Oscars; Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity is a tale of two astronauts stranded in space. Dr Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is just acclimatising to being in space when she is joined by seasoned, retirement-bound Matt, played by George Clooney. When an accident leaves them adrift in space they must help each other survive.

• Saturday 23 August 2014, doors open from 7pm: Grease (PG)

Grease, the ultimate High School Musical, is the story about love found on a summer beach, then lost and found again. Set amid the 1950’s teenage social and peer prejudices of the tumultuous final year of high school.

• Sunday 24 August 2014, doors open from 7pm: The Dark Knight Rises (12A)

The Dark Knight Rises will be screened again this year following a successful sell out last year. Christopher Nolan returns to Gotham City for a final go-around with Christian Bale’s Batman, also starring Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy, with scenes from the film shot at Wollaton Hall.
