Popping Up is coming to Nicholson's in Nottingham

Nicholson's Bar, which is at Nottingham's Hilton Hotel, is set to play host to an event later this month organised by Popping Up, a group of students from New College Nottingham. In this guest blog, group member Ellie Sanders writes about why you should go along to this FREE event. Thursday 24th April is the day to keep free in your diaries. This is the day that Popping Up will be taking over Nicholson’s Bar and Diner at the Hilton Hotel. For one night only you will be able to experience our simple but far from plain menu and cocktails. Popping Up is a small group of Foundation Degree students from New College Nottingham studying Hospitality Management and as part of our course we have been given the opportunity of running a pop-up restaurant from scratch. We have joined forces with Nicholson’s and have planned the event as if we are opening a brand new restaurant. This means we have had to produce our budget and expense spreadsheets, promote the event and also run the event, serving and hosting. Jensen Stansfield-Coyne is a newly graduated graphic designer, from Nottingham, who has been helping us to maintain a professional image by designing all of our branding including a logo, menu and promotional material. This has helped us to show ourselves as a serious and focused group and also show the high standards that we are working to sustain as a group. As a group of eight students, we have all taken roles that reflect our personalities and abilities and we are all using the experience to build on our capabilities in order to take the knowledge gained in to our future careers. We have all been working very hard for seven months to plan every last detail and hopefully it will show on the night.
