"Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall and Nottingham Playhouse
The theatres hold an extra special place in my heart, as I was brought up from a young age going to see plays and concerts with my mum and younger sister and particularly enjoyed the annual pantomime of which I still have not grown out of! In fact all of those years of attending the local theatres inspired me to study Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University, and I went on to design and build for News Perspectives Theatre company (Mansfield) and Carlton TV Studios to which I have no doubt later inspired my current career in event management. Nothing beats live entertainment and I encourage everyone to go to the theatre for a bit of wholesome fun.
White Post Farm Centre
Another place I don’t think I will ever grow out of, having visited several times over the past 30 years, is White Post Farm. I don’t need to take a child with me as an excuse to visit, with my love of animals the farm park has always had my vote and I hope it remains open for many more years to come. Last time I visited I spent far too long enjoying ‘Goat Mountain’ as I call it – feeding the goats with the specially created ‘conveyor belt’!
Aqua Sana Spa & Centre Parcs
Sometimes nothing beats doing nothing! I absolutely love being pampered and so the spa is my most favourite place to unwind and try to find that ‘blank space’ even for just a short time. And with Aqua Sana Spa’s many treatment rooms , this is one that I am yet to tire of. Like many spas who do not give you that much to do, Aqua Sana really caters for everyone and allows you to experience indoor rain - both hot & cold, bird song –again indoors, and lets you sleep in a room with people you have never met - bizarre but strangely it works!
Turtle Bay restaurant - Cornerhouse
This has to be one of my favourites, not just because the food is so great but the Caribbean feel, reggae music, décor and cocktails all make for the most relaxed, chilled out experience, allowing me to escape and dream of being in the ‘actual’ Caribbean, sipping rum cocktails at a beach bar. Speaking of rum cocktails, these are pretty much lethal – in a good way – particularly when they run their 2 for 1 offer - well, it would be rude not to! "
