23rd and 25th February | 2024 | 9:00am - 10:30am
Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre
£12.50pp (£10 RSPB members)
Did you know that Sherwood Forest is a haven not just for outlaws, but for woodpeckers too?
Join wildlife expert Rob on a guided walk designed to reveal more about these iconic birds in Robin Hood's forest.
With the UK's three native woodpecker species – great spotted, lesser spotted and green – all resident in the forest Sherwood resounds to their unmistakable drumming throughout the winter and spring months.
And there's every chance you'll catch a glimpse of their colourful plumage as they move through the woodland canopy. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open as you don't want to miss them.
As this is a walk to see the birds in the wild we cannot guarantee that you will see them. However, you will learn much.
The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, so please bring suitable clothing and footwear.
It is appropriate for all ages, although it may be challenging for families with pushchairs. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on this walk.
If you have binoculars please bring them.
