One of the most innovative groups in the new wave of UK jazz. Returning once again to Peggy's, they will delve deep into their celebrated jazz material for the 'dining' performance, followed by a groove-based 'later' show!
One of the most innovative groups in the new wave of UK jazz, Nimbus Sextet are bringing their electrifying blend of jazz, world and dance music to top venues and festivals across the UK and Europe. Led by pianist/keyboardist Joe Nichols, Nimbus Sextet's albums – Dreams Fulfilled (2020) and Forward Thinker (2022) – were both released on the legendary Acid Jazz label. Championed by Jazz FM, they have garnered international acclaim from the likes of Jazzwise, Clash Magazine, RFI, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 6 Music among many others.
In collaboration with Nuovi Fratelli, they released a new arrangement of the Roy Ayers Ubiquity classic 'Searching,' featuring alt-soul vocalists Russell Stewart and Lissappear. The single was released in February to wide radio support including Gilles Peterson & Craig Charles, and topped the A List on Jazz FM's playlist for three weeks. As part of their UK summer tour, Nimbus Sextet will perform music from their hotly anticipated third album, which is due for release later in the year and will take their evolving sound to new heights.
Nimbus Sextet will perform two special shows for their return to Peggy's Skylight: delving deep into their celebrated jazz material for the 'dining' performance, followed by a groove-based 'later' show:
NIMBUS SEXTET – ACT I – 'DINING SHOW' Nimbus Sextet explore the experimental and modal jazz compositions within their repertoire, focusing largely on the material released on their two Acid Jazz Records album releases, Dreams Fulfilled and Forward Thinker.
NIMBUS SEXTET – ACT II – 'LATER SHOW' Nimbus Sextet delve into the more progressive dance/groove-oriented tunes that inspired the huge support they continue to receive from Jazz FM, and debut some of the tracks to be featured on their upcoming third album.
