Fancy relaxing outdoors? How about a short trip down to Highfields park to enjoy some relaxing boating along the lake?
If you arrive via tram, the University of Nottingham tram stop drops you off right by the lake . Follow the path through the green gates and you will immediately be met by the stunning waters of Highfield Park’s lake. Following the footpath round to the left, you will see a small hut renting boats!
On offer is a selection of canoes, row boats and KataKanus. For those who are new to the sport, the company offers instructed classes for those over 6 years of age. They are open from 10:30-7:00 pm daily during the summer season; though the latest you can hire is 6pm! They do close occasionally due to poor weather, so in order to avoid disappointment, it is best to call them first on 07887 675628 , to make sure they’re open.
Boat hire is usually rented by the hour; £5 per adult and £4 for children under 16. Aside from boating, highfields also offers a beautiful scenic walk around the lake, as well as a play area for small children. The walk around the lake is flat and paved, ideal for families with prams or wheelchairs. Dogs are also welcome!
If you're looking for something more exciting, there is also a park adventure golf, next to the lake. Adventure golf is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and all week during school holidays! They offer a range of golf based activities; starting at £3.50 for children under 12, and ending at £13 for one adult and one child for an 18 hole golf course. They encourage pre booking onto their activities, which you can do so at highfieldsgolfltd.simplybook.it/v2/#book.
In terms of refreshment the Lakeside Arts cafe offers cakes, sandwiches, teas and coffee. They also have on site toilets for those in need of relief! The cafe is open 8:00am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday, and 10:00am-4:00pm on weekends. If you’d like to book a table before you go, you can call them on 0115 846 7179.
