Clumber Park
Free | This event is part of Heritage Days 2023
Visit Clumber Park on Friday the 8th September for walks and talks celebrating the creative inventions and innovation within the park through the ages.
Clumber Park is a Ducal estate with a long history. In its heyday, creative innovation and invention allowed the property to function and thrive. War time brought other new technologies. On Friday the 8th September the park will be open with free admission for all.
Our engaging and informative volunteers will lead a series of walk and talk tours. Learn about the construction and testing of Nellie, the trench digging tank. Imagine the mansion house prior to its demolition whilst taking in the model in the new Heritage hub.
Visit the garage buildings where the 7th Duke kept his collection of cars and learn about his land yacht 'The Bohemian'. Take in part of the pleasure grounds and out towards the Ornamental bridge via the Grotto, where a turbine and pump provided water to the estate.
At 11am join our knowledgeable volunteers at the Heritage Hub in the Lincoln Stables who will guide you around the main core area.
Walled Kitchen Garden tours will be leaving from the Heritage Hub at 11am and 2pm and a tour to take in the Grotto and Ornamental Bridge at 12.30pm
The tours will take approximately one hour and will be taken at a leisurely pace, stopping regularly for snippets of information or to answer questions.
The tours will all leave from the Heritage Hub in the Lincoln Stables.
