Wollaton Hall
Tickets: £11
The next event in Wollaton Hall's 'Harmony at the Hall' series is an exciting performance of choral music by Handel, performed by The Petrus Singers and saraBande
In 1713 Cassandra Willoughby (the historian of Wollaton Hall) married James Brydges, the first Duke of Chandos. Handel was composer in residence for the Duke between 1717 and 1719, at Cannons, his house in Middlesex. Here he wrote the Chandos Anthems and Esther, the first English oratorio. There is no evidence that Handel ever visited Wollaton, but Cassandra must have heard these magnificent choral works and the great hall will be the perfect setting for this performance.
Please note that the concert ticket gives admission to the great hall only. Visitors can experience the exciting natural history and dinosaur galleries by booking a Standard Admission Ticket - pay once, visit all year round!
