Win A Christmas Weekend in Sherwood Forest
Nottinghamshire is the home of legends including the UK’s most famous forest, Sherwood Forest. Beloved as the home of Robin Hood, the forest continues to welcome visitors from all over the world who want to walk in the footsteps of history and pay witness to its ancient magic.
During the winter months, the forest is transformed into the perfect festive getaway for families as the various venues within the Sherwood Forest offer unique events in a stunning surrounding. The elves tell us that Santa is planning to visit the area, too!
For this latest family giveaway, we have teamed up with our friends at Sherwood Pines Campsite, Gloworm Festival and Rufford Abbey Country Park to give one lucky family the ultimate Christmas weekend away in Sherwood Forest on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December 2024, including a two night stay all for free!
The prize includes a unique two night glamping stay over the weekend of Saturday 7th December, a brand new Christmas light trail and even a trip to Santa’s Grotto with a complimentary breakfast and festive trail!
The Prize
Where You Will Stay: You will enjoy a two night stay in one of the luxurious family sized Glamping Bothy Pods at Sherwood Pines Campsite. But forget what you know about glamping! Not only do these pods boast a double bed for the parents and a bunk bed for two children with real, comfortable mattresses, you can expect a dining area, your own veranda and a cosy log burning fire! Other amenities include fireside armchairs, snuggle throws and kitchenette complete with a variety of cooking accessories. And did we mention that they are dog friendly? Feel free to bring your dogs to join you in this festive getaway, so no member of the family is left behind!
These pods are the perfect base from which to explore Sherwood Forest, with a wealth of nearby venues and activities including walking, hiking, cycling. They are even open all year round, meaning that they are the perfect choice no matter when in the year you are planning a visit!
The two night booking can be validated on either the Friday 6th and Saturday 7th or Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th. The lucky winner will be able to choose whichever option is their preference!

Saturday: Once you check in, you can enjoy some downtime exploring the Forest before heading to Light Post Farm for your first activity at 6pm (only a 20 minute drive away). Organised by Gloworm Festival and White Post Farm, this brand new enchanting light trail will take you on a 1km farm trail illuminated by sparkling lights, with a variety of seasonal delights along the way.
Your admission includes access to the Mini Christmas Market, where you can indulge in hot chocolate, roast marshmallows, and savour sweet treats. Join Ginger Snap to decorate gingerbread or create some magical reindeer dust to take home for Christmas Eve.
You will also get the chance to see new born lambs, which are expected to arrive in early December, and full access to the farm, including the Reptiles of the World Exhibit and the indoor Jungle Barn.

Sunday: After a relaxing night, you will head over to Rufford Abbey Country Park to continue your family weekend in style, including a trip to Santa’s Grotto! This is only a 10 minute drive from the campsite.
Upon arrival, you will check in with one of the Elves and order your four complimentary sausage or bacon breakfast cobs, ahead of a trip to Santa’s Grotto at 10.15am, where children can meet Santa and receive a special gift to take home. The enchanting Santa's Grotto promises to be a highlight, creating lasting memories for our lucky family. One of Rufford’s most highly anticipated holiday events, these Grotto appointments usually sell out!
After your appointment with Santa, you can pick up two of their Elf Garden Christmas Trails to keep the festive spirit going. Specially crafted for this magical time of year, the trail invites families to explore the formal gardens in search of Santa’s playful elves, who are hiding there. As you make your way through the gardens, enjoy the festive atmosphere and holiday decorations that bring the spirit of Christmas to life.
You can also make the most of free parking for the day, meaning you can enjoy the Christmas activities at Rufford at your leisure, including their Mini Christmas Market

- The competition is designed for a family of up to 4, including 2 adults and 2 children.

- This competition runs from 9am Tuesday 12th November 2024 and closes on 11.59pm Tuesday 26th November 2024.
- You must be able to take the prize over the weekend of Saturday 7th December 2024.
- When selecting the preferred dates for the overnight stay, one night must be taken on Saturday 7th December 2024.
- Check-in at Sherwood Pines Campsite is available from 3pm.
- Please note that a security deposit will be required upon check-in at Sherwood Pines Campsite. You will be responsible for any costs incurred to this end.
- One entry per person.
- The winner will be chosen at random.
- The winner will be contacted on Wednesday 27th November 2024 via email and/or telephone by Visit Nottinghamshire or parent company Marketing Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
- Once the winner has been contacted, they must confirm receipt of the prize by 11.59pm on Wednesday 27th November 2024 to verify their entry and confirm attendance.
- If not claimed within this time frame, of if the selected winner cannot confirm attendance, the prize will be deemed unclaimed and cannot be claimed after this point. Any unclaimed prize will be returned to the event organiser for a re-draw, taking place from Thursday 28th November 2024.
- The winner’s contact details will be shared with competition partners Sherwood Pines Campsite, Gloworm Festival and Rufford Abbey Country Park to arrange receipt of the prize only. The involved venues will require access to these contact details to complete booking, confirm further arrangements, or to verify identity upon arrival. Your details will not be shared with any other company or venue for any purpose.
