Join the National Holocaust Centre for an intimate candlelit concert with renowned local pianist and composer Chris Miggells, who will perform a special commission dedicated to Holocaust-era composer Gideon Klein. Known for his sold-out performances at the iconic Clipstone Headstocks, Chris brings his original, evocative compositions to new audiences, this time honouring Klein's remarkable legacy. Chris will also be joined by acclaimed poet laureate Richard C. Bower for a unique performance combining poetry and piano in an evocative reflection on remembrance and survival.
Inspired by Dr. David Fligg's book Don't Forget About Me, Chris has created a hauntingly beautiful piece that draws from Klein's 1943 piano sonata, composed amid the unimaginable horrors of Theresienstadt Concentration Camp. This event offers a rare opportunity to experience music that celebrates resilience and the enduring power of art. Chris's moving tribute will be released worldwide as a single on December 6th, coinciding with what would have been Klein's birthday.
Programme:
1:00pm: Concert commences
1:45pm: Interval
2:00pm: Resume
2:45pm: Concert end
Ticketing:
Admission to the concert requires the Centre's standard ticket plus a £5 event ticket. Seating is limited, and demand is expected to be high, so booking early is recommended to ensure your place at this memorable event.
The Centre will be open from 10:00am to 4:30pm for visitors wishing to explore exhibitions and memorial gardens. Please remember to book both an admissions ticket and an event ticket.
