23 reviewsThe Exchange has been at the centre of Nottingham retailing for over 85 years and is the city’s oldest shopping arcade. The centre now houses an unrivalled mix of 17 exclusive stores offering designer labels in fashion, gifts, art and home shops, as well as two noted eateries. Occupying a nationally significant Grade II* listed building at the very heart of Nottingham’s vibrant city centre, it is a mere five minutes’ walk from secure, covered parking and easily accessible via public transport.
The Exchange Buildings were constructed between 1927 and 1929 as part of a major civic building project which included the Council House. The Exchange was Nottingham's first shopping centre, opened on 22nd May 1929 by the Prince of Wales, who later became Edward VIII.
Today, it is Nottingham's most exclusive speciality shopping venue, with its mellow York Stone walls and magnificent 200ft high dome making it a must-see destination for millions of visitors and regular shoppers every year.
Facilities:
Free wi-fi available throughout the centre
Wheelchair accessible
Fashion & beauty brands include Crabtree & Evelyn, Dr Martens, Jack Wolfskin, Radley & Tutu
Food & drink available all day from Patisserie Valerie and Pret a Manger
Tram stops outside the centre, 10 minutes’ walk from Nottingham train station
