Whether you’re a devoted Batman fan eager to explore Bruce Wayne’s on-screen residence or simply looking to admire the grandeur of this cinematic setting, Wollaton Hall offers a unique blend of history, culture, and film magic to get swept up in. With its fascinating history, sprawling grounds, and legendary connection to the Batman franchise, Wollaton Hall is the perfect first stop on your Nottinghamshire film and TV adventure 

Just a short drive from Wollaton Hall, or easily accessible via public transport, Nottingham Castle offers another cinematic gem on your film tour. Known for its rich ties to the Robin Hood legend, the castle has served as a inpiration for countless legends brought to life.

Day 1 | Afternoon 

After a day of exploring Nottingham’s iconic film and TV spots, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Beat the mid-afternoon slump with a visit to Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, the oldest pub in England and a true gem of Nottingham’s past and present. Steeped in history and renowned for its charming atmosphere, this pub has become a must-see destination for film buffs and history lovers alike. Not only does it boast a rich, centuries-old history, but it’s also been featured in numerous travel shows and documentaries, adding a cinematic flair to its already legendary status.

Refuelled and ready for more, why not spend the afternoon on a self-curated film and TV walking tour through the city centre? Start at Nottingham Train Station, where the 2011 British drama Weekend was filmed in its entirety, then make your way to Lace Market and Hockley, which feature iconic scenes from the 2006 film This Is England and the 2007 biographical hit Control. Finally, head to the inner-city gem, The Arboretum - a tranquil green space that not only offers a peaceful retreat amidst the city’s vibrant energy but is also believed to have inspired J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, a fascinating link to Nottingham’s literary heritage. Not only will this tour tick off some of the major movie hits, but it will take you around the entire city centre, the perfect place to break up a movie themed adventure with activities such as a bit of retail therapy shopping while on your tour.

Looking to end your night with a bang? Head over to The Magic Garden, where you can get lost in theatrically crafted cocktails and enchanting décor, transporting you into a world of magic and wonder. It’s the perfect spot to immerse yourself in a fantasy experience, leaving you feeling like you’ve stepped straight into your favourite movie. But if you're not in the mood for drinks, no worries! The Lost City Adventure Golf offers a lush, jungle-themed mini-golf experience that feels like you’ve wandered into an action-packed adventure film. Heavily inspired by the famous escapades of Indiana Jones, this mini golf course is the perfect place for a more unique movie themed activity to tick off the bucket list.

Day 2: Nottinghamshire – Historic Film Locations and Countryside Charm

Embark on a journey to the stunning Welbeck Estate and its historic Abbey, set within 15,000 acres of rolling hills in North Nottinghamshire. Day 2 | Afternoon 

Sherwood Forest is not only steeped in legend but also rich in film history, making it a must-visit for film fans and nature enthusiasts alike. Known worldwide as the legendary home of Robin Hood, the forest has been the backdrop for countless film and TV adaptations of the iconic outlaw’s tale. Stroll through the ancient Major Oak, a central figure in many of these productions, and explore the woodland trails that have brought the forest’s magic to life on screen. Represented in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, the BBC’s Robin Hood series, numerous documentaries and BBC's crime drama Sherwood, Sherwood Forest’s enchanting landscapes offer a truly cinematic experience.
