Nestled in the original engine yard, beneath the majestic Belvoir Castle, the village is home to a variety of artisan shops and eateries. Among them are The Duchess Collection, Soapery, The Grange Garden Centre, and the well-stocked Belvoir Farm Shop, brimming with locally sourced meats, cheeses, bread, and special food gifts.
A perfect way to start your visit is with a cosy stop at the Belvoir Bistro, where you can enjoy a hot chocolate with all the trimmings, breakfast, delicious cakes, festive afternoon tea, or a full meal. The village shops, housed in beautifully restored barns and workshops, offer a unique and charming shopping experience. The Duchess Collection, a lifestyle boutique created by Her Grace the Duchess of Rutland, offers a range of fashion, gifts, handmade soaps, candles, and delightful holiday decorations. After a few festive purchases, head to the Belvoir Farm Shop, where you’ll find an abundance of local produce, including locally reared and prepared meats and cheeses from nearby creameries, including Christmas favourite Cropwell Bishop Stilton. You’ll also discover a range of Belvoir Castle’s own wines and ciders. Belvoir Castle’s Retail Village is preparing for a busy Christmas season as winter food and gift stalls, yuletide workshops, carol singers, choirs and Santa Claus descend on the estate.
Belvoir Castle is an imposing castle that stands to the North East of Leicestershire, commanding outstanding views from where its name derives from the meaning `beautiful view’.
Carefully restored from Victorian buildings and surrounded by woodland, the Engine Yard is the first retail village of its kind in the local area. Originally constructed in 1850, the Engine Yard has a wealth of history. It’s hard to believe that the hub of the estate once included a saw mill, wagon making shop and wheelwright’s shop. Today it’s home to a distinctive selection of shops and experiences right next to Belvoir Castle.
