If you’re exploring Sherwood Forest this August, take advantage of free bus travel on the Sherwood Arrow every weekend in August. Funded by Nottinghamshire County Council as part of their Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), travel along the entire route of the Sherwood Arrow bus will be free, from Nottingham City Centre to Worksop and Retford via Ollerton.

1. Family Fun Day at Trent Bridge
Sunday 11th August | Trent Bridge Cricket Ground | 9.30am - 6.30pm | Adults £6, Under 16s) £1
Families can indulge in a host of free, family-friendly entertainment at Trent Bridge's annual Family Fun Day this Sunday, coinciding with the Outlaws' 50-over fixture against Essex.
The world-famous Trent Bridge venue and it's concourses will be abuzz with activities for all to enjoy, including: face-painting, retro gaming, balloon modelling, slime-making, glitter tattoos, urban art station, a bubbleologist, bug hotel making, clay creating, hula hooping workshop, activity trails, and a live DJ.
Visitors can wonder onto the Trent Bridge pitch during the interval in play, whilst the Outlaws will be on hand for selfies and autographs after the game.
Expect music, a live DJ and a wide range of food and drink offerings available throughout the day, too.
Gates open at 9.30am when all entertainment will begin, whilst the cricket will get underway at 11am. The match is expected to finish around 6.30pm, but match timings can be subject to change on the day.
2. Rockabilly Americana Show
Saturday 10th August | Binks Yard | Doors at 1pm | From £5
The Binks Yard outdoor terrace will come alive this August 10th with all things Rockabilly!
Four of the UKs working rockabilly and rock n’ roll bands, will take to the stage, playing a mixture of artists from a fantastic era including Elvis, Chuck Berry, and Eddie Cochran. You’ll be up and dancing in no time!

- Highway Junkies – Alternative Country, Americana Bar room stomp
- Midnight Shift – Traditional Rockabilly Rock and Roll Trio
- The Kingshakes – Old school Neo Rockabilly

3. Country Festival Themed Ice Disco
Saturday 10th August | National Ice Centre | 2.30pm - 4.30pm | Adult £12 | Junior & Student £7 | Under 5s Free | Family discounts also available
Yeehaw! The National Ice Centre is hosting a hoedown on ice you won't want to miss!
Mosey on down this Saturday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm for a rootin' tootin' good time that mashes up traditional and modern country vibes under the disco lights.
Whether you're a skating pro or a disco duck on ice, this event is for everyone! Round up your friends and get ready for an afternoon filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable memories.

4. Classic Car & Motorcycle Show at Norwood Park
Sunday 11th August | Norwood Park | 10am – 4pm | Advance Tickets: Adult £10.50, Child £5, Family £25 (on the day tickets vary)
New for 2024, Norwood Park are excited to announce the Norwood Park Classic Car & Motorcycle Show.
This family-friendly event will let you take in the views of our spectacular estate while immersing yourself in a fantastic display of vintage, classic and modern classic cars, arranged on the basis of age or category - pre-60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000+, American, Sports & Convertible, Kit Cars & Custom and Commercial / Military.
As well as this extensive display, there will be entertainment for everyone - including live judging and awards, live music, trade and autojumble stalls and quality food, bar and ice cream to enjoy in the sunshine. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads.
5. Robin Hood Adventure Trail: Free Summer Fun for Families
Monday 5th August – 30th September | Various venues around Nottingham city centre | FREE
Join It’s in Nottingham for an exciting family adventure across the city
This summer, It’s in Nottingham invites families to embark on an exciting adventure with the Robin Hood Adventure Trail. This free event encourages families to help the legendary Robin Hood find his merry friends hidden across various cultural venues in Nottingham city centre.
Pick up a trail map from any of the participating venues and explore the city to uncover the hidden characters. The adventure begins from any location, but don’t miss out on finding every character! Once all the characters are found and noted, head to the National Justice Museum to claim your special Robin Hood badge as a memento of the adventure.
As a bonus, the first 200 people to pick up a map from Nottingham Contemporary, will receive a free Robin Hood hat!
