1. Nottingham Chamber Music Festival
11th – 14th July | Various Venues across Nottingham City Centre | Various Times | Various Prices
The Nottingham Chamber Music Festival returns for a weekend packed with concerts in Nottingham’s cultural spaces! Nottingham’s only classical music festival welcomes newbies and culture vultures to hear some of the UK’s top classical artists.
The Festival opens with ‘A Global Symphony’ at Delilah Fine Foods, a party mix of string quartets and wine! Other performances include an evening exploring Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’ at St Mary’s, Nottingham Young Musicians showcase, free concerts around the city, and a special Family Concert for little ones.
Venues include Nottingham Contemporary, St Mary’s in the Lace Market, the Squire Performing Arts Centre, and St Peter’s Church.
2. Dance Anthems Orchestra
Friday 12th July | Bolsover Castle | 5.30-10pm | Tickets from £16
Join the Dance Anthems Orchestra this Friday! Featuring a 30 piece orchestra, soloists, DJ and Dancers, they will be performing some of the most loved dance tracks from the past 4 decades.
From Fatboy Slim to Chemical brothers this night is going to be epic - and in the stunning setting of Bolsover Castle. With bars and catering supplied by the Digbeth Dining Club this is an evening not to be missed.
They are strictly limited to 2000 people for this event and tickets will go fast so make sure you grab your before it is too late.
You can also catch UK Proms In The Park at the Castle Saturday 13th July. The acclaimed UK Proms Orchestra and a host of special guests take you on a journey through some of the most loved classical pieces from TV, film and theatre, before a rapturous finale featuring all the classics from the Last Night of the Proms.
3. Vineyard Tour And Tastings
Multiple Dates | Wolds Wine Estate | 11am & 2pm | £22
Be guided around the Wolds Wine Estate at this informal tasting of locally produced wines and Estate-made craft cider. You will explore the cider orchard and vineyard whilst enjoying stops along the way to taste wine and learn about viticulture and life on the Estate. Their estate wines will also be available on the tours.
The tours and tastings will be held on Saturdays starting at 11am and 2pm (2pm from June) and last roughly 1 and a half hours.
They will include:
- A tour of the Orchard discussing the importance of traditional orchards and the UK cider scene
- An overview of the beehives and the role of bees to the Estate
- An up-close view of the vineyard with details of English viticulture
- A tasting during and after which will include generous tasters wines and the Estate cider
4. Little Angel Theatre Handa's Surprise
Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th July | Djanogly Theatre, Lakeside Arts | 11am, 1pm & 3.30pm | Tickets: £9
Based on the popular children's book, travel to Kenya and follow in Handa's footsteps as she journeys to see her best friend Akeyo in the next village.
Carrying seven delicious fruits, Handa meets seven hungry animals who can't resist the ripe red mango and sweet smelling guava.
A blend of physical performance, puppetry, live music, and song combine to create an intimate, magical production.
5. Kelham Hall Night at the Proms
Sunday 14th July | Renaissance at Kelham Hall | Arrival 3pm | £6.50 per person
Join the Renaissance at Kelham Hall for a mesmerizing evening of classical and well-loved music as the Newark & Sherwood Concert Band performs at Kelham Hall Night at the Proms.
Enjoy live music from the 40-piece Newark & Sherwood Concert Band in front of the magnificent hall. The band will be enchanting the audience with their captivating performance of classical music as well as some much-loved favourites.
Gather your friends and family, bring along a picnic blanket, and create lasting memories in the beautiful grounds of the Renaissance at Kelham Hall. Why not indulge in a Proms Picnic Box For Two and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea whilst immersing yourself in the fabulous music?
