Last month, Nottingham was ablaze with energy as not only Dot2Dot festival but also GrooveBox took over the city. I had the privilege of experiencing the electrifying atmosphere at the historic Pitcher and Piano church venue, where the renowned Drum and Bass artist SIGMA performed live.

As we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the GrooveBox team and stepped through the carved stone entrance of the church and solid oak doors into a scene unlike any other. Fire cannons shot bursts of flame intermittently from atop the bar, perfectly synchronized with the deep bass that filled the church. Beyond the bar, the venue was a mesmerising sea of people, dancing energetically as streamer cannons erupted, painting the air with colour as they hung suspended under the lights.

GrooveBox truly outdid themselves with this visual spectacle. Our night started with the performance of Sota, who set the vibe, building the crowd into a frenzy before headliner SIGMA took the stage. SIGMA's performance was nothing short of jaw dropping, seamlessly blending tracks as they worked up to their explosive hit with over 240 million views on Youtube - 'Nobody to Love,' a favourite of anyone that loves Drum and Bass, especially the 'Liquid' genre! The track almost took the top off the Pitcher & Piano as SIGMA faded it in!

The atmosphere was further heightened by fire dancers that appeared on the iconic elevated walkway, breathing flames into the air above, while an LED wall below the historic stained-glass windows illuminated the church with vibrant visuals. An outdoor stage was also filled with an awesome line-up that pumped beats into the sunny afternoon, keeping the energy moving across the site until early evening. Tickets started from just £11, making the experience worth every penny and then some!

Among the crowd, we found some friends and enjoyed SIGMA's performance together, revelling in each deep bass-filled rhythm. GrooveBox also had a professional drone pilot capturing the event, weaving magically through the church's intricate architecture, we can't wait to see the footage!

GrooveBox's reputation for outstanding event production was fully evident, combining quality tunes with stunning top-tier visual performances. We wholeheartedly recommend attending a GrooveBox event in the future. Check out their upcoming events linked below, including the highly anticipated Hannah Wants at Binks Yard and Nottingham Pride event with Gok Wan!

For an unforgettable night of music and spectacle, Groovebox and Pitcher and Piano delivered completely. Whether you're a local or visiting, keep an eye out for more events that showcase the city's vibrant cultural scene.
