We were invited to experience the immersive 'Spectacle of Light' at Belvoir Castle, and this is what we found!
Belvoir Castle's 'Spectacle of Light' is a truly mesmerizing display that blends lighting, sound and landscape to create a family friendly, immersive light experience. You will follow a trail through the beautiful gardens amongst the trees, where most of the installations are, but the castle's architecture is also transformed into a canvas of light and colour, with coloured lights illuminating its walls and towers.
One of the highlights of the show is the use of music, which adds depth and dimension to the display. The illuminated fountains, statues, landscape and installations are complimented by a range of classical and orchestral music, creating a rich atmosphere to the display. The experience is a wonderful blend of technology and art, and the talented team behind the display have created a delightful experience.
They have even built in a few photo spots around the trail, where friendly staff are on hand to take that perfect shot for Instagram. But you’re sure to get some beautiful photos all along the trail!
There are a few portable toilets and drink stalls at a couple of intervals, allowing for the occasional comfort break. We saw many families enjoying the trail while sipping on a warm drink, with the steam rising from their gloved hands. It is still January, after all; the perfect winter scene! You could also get a drink before or after at the café next to the entrance, or of course Belvoir Castle’s Engine Yard*, which is just a stone’s throw away. We recommend bringing some wellies or a change of shoes, as the path does get muddy in some areas.
Whether you're visiting with friends, family or a special someone, the Spectacle of Light is a magical experience that is not to be missed. You can catch it on selected dates until Sunday 19th February, with ticket prices starting from £10.80. Discounted family tickets are also available, and under 3s go for free.
