Sounds Like Her
New Art Exchange | 14th Oct - 3rd Jan 2018 | Saturday 10am – 5pm & Sun 10am – 4pm
Continuing their practice of celebrating diversity and exhibiting the work of marginalised artists, New Art Exchange present ‘Sounds Like Her’ – an exhibition featuring female sound artists from across the world. With voice, noise, organic and synthetic sounds, rhythmic patterns, sonic structures and non-sonic materialisations of sound, Sounds Like Her looks to challenge Eurocentric and patriarchal frameworks that are prevalent within the medium of sound art, whilst also presenting a varied and compelling glimpse into the work of international female artists.
New Surrealism: ‘Dark Matter’ - An exhibition by the artist Maximillion
The Malt Cross | Saturday 11th November
This weekend New Surealist Maximillion opens his first exhibition in the UK in 31 years and to kick off the show local promoters I'm Not From London have put together an evening of great live music. The exhibition, which features 20 collage works, features hauntingly beautiful prints from 18th century French portraiture to 1940’s and 50’s film stars and pin-up girls, carrying the torch of surrealism into the 21st century.
Misfit Fest
Nottingham Contemporary | Saturday 11th November 2017
Always an evening of blinding fun, Nottingham’s bonafide party band Unknown Era return with their annual Misfit Fest. The nine-piece collective bring lashings of energy to the stage with a jaunty fusion of disco, funk, reggae, hip-hop and ska that guarantees to get the audience moving and grooving. Accompanied by Hull’s Counting Coins, Liverpool rock n’ rollers Pete Bentham & The Dinner Ladies, circus walkabouts and the usual posse of revellers, you’ll want to cancel any Sunday plans after this night.
Northern Ballet present... The Little Mermaid
Theatre Royal | Tuesday 7 - Saturday 11 November
At least once in our lives, we should all get to experience something as gorgeous as a ballet. With its grand elegance, the hush of the theatre and beautiful aesthetics, for a couple of hours the real world just falls away. This weekend The Little Mermaid is brought to life at the Theatre Royal with sublime costumes, sumptuous sets and graceful dance, bringing a new twist on classic tale from Hans Christian Anderson. Whether you are a ballet fan or a theatre rookie, this performance will be a magical evening escape into the world of fairy tales.
Nottingham Yarn Expo
Nottingham Conference Centre | Saturday 11th - Sunday 12th November
Crafters, knitters, and yarn enthusiasts congregate in Nottingham this weekend at Nottingham Conference Centre. Workshops and talks are set to take place throughout the day, and there will be dozens of types of wool to browse and buy. If you’re a really speedy knitter, this is the perfect place to find inspiration and get sorted before starting on those matching homemade Christmas jumpers for the family.

Whether you’re visiting for the weekend or you’ve lived in Nottingham a while, you’re likely to find these Hello Notts tours both fun and enlightening. Join Bryn, a friendly local chap with a passion for the history and heritage of our city, for a leisurely walk filled with fascinating facts. Each Saturday he provides two tours; one delving into Nottingham’s past, while the other focuses on the legacy of some of Nottingham’s most influential and interesting people.
