The UK Green Film Festival returns to Nottingham's Broadway Cinema

The UK Green Film Festival is back for its seventh year, and is delighted to return to the Broadway Nottingham. This May, the UK Green Film Festival gets ready to bring the very best of environmentally themed films from around the world to one of the UK’s largest cinema networks. Taking place over 8 days from the 4th- 11th May around the country, it’s rapidly expanding into one of the biggest touring cinema events in Europe. To match the expanding growth of the festival, this year will see some big films from Oscar nominated filmmakers, Sundance Film Festival winners and trendy Copenhagen based culinary artists, covering every environmental issue from sustainability to mining, land rights to renewable energy. On the 4^th May at the Broadway there’ll be a one-off screening of The Age of Consequences (or as some are describing it, The Hurt Locker meets An Inconvenient Truth). Through unflinching case-study analysis, distinguished admirals, general and military veterans, The Age of Consequences take us beyond the headlines of the conflict in Syria, the rise of radicalized groups, and the European refugee crisis - and lay bare how climate change stressors interact with societal tensions, sparking conflict. The film’s unnerving assessment is a call to action to rethink how we use and produce energy. The film has already received a substantial amount of critical praise, with Little White Lies stating ‘Scott clearly isn’t trying to make a definitive statement on the consequences of global warming – instead he appears determined to encourage a new line of thinking, one that takes climate change out of the realm of tree-hugging environmentalism and lends it a sense of violent urgency.’ Want to see what all the fuss is about?
