See the Supermoon in Nottinghamshire

Tonight all across the UK, we'll be able to witness the the biggest, brightest full supermoon of the century, as the moon reaches it's closest point to Earth since 1948. To make the most of the phenomenon, astronomers have advised to get out of the city and into areas with wide open spaces and minimal artificial light. Here are some of the county's best viewpoints.

Beeston - hop on a tram out of the city to Beeston and watch the moon from the skies above peaceful Attenborough Nature Reserve.

Southwell Minster - the distinctive skyline over the rural town of Southwell makes a picture-perfect viewpoint.  

Newark Castle looks spectacular at night, especially when lit up by a full moon.  Edwinstowe The clear open skies above Robin Hood Country are made for star-gazing.
