Expect the unexpected at the Malt Cross Festival

Malt Cross Festival celebrates the opening of the original Victorian music hall, which started just in time for Goose Fair in 1877. With this festival you can expect the unexpected, the building offers antiquity, oddity and creativity making it the picture-perfect venue for an intimate music, arts and food festival based in the urban heart of Nottingham. You will be able to watch international bands Flamingods and Cristobal & the Sea on the historic Top Hat Stage, or up and coming acts in the more intimate setting of our sandstone caves, offering a wider range of sounds from world, folk and blues, through to psych, jazz and electronica. Venture down to our basement floors for family friendly craft workshops throughout the day, or drop in on our late night sessions to learn how to make your own prints whilst local DJs spin their favourite tracks. We will also be inviting the Anti Gallery to take over our gallery space to produce a new live installation. Through out the weekend we will have film screenings, historical storytelling and tours, plus we’ve invited our neighbours to the party so make sure you visit Plates Records, Handmade Nottingham, Pop Press and Arts & Crafts at Malt Cross as they join in the festival fun. There will be local food delicacies to try, washed down with regional ales and cocktails, plus on Sunday we’ll be opening our doors to a host of independent retailers. Malt Cross Festival gives regional and national acts and artists the chance to showcase new work in a unique venue, and allows all ages to feel inspired by the creativity of Nottingham – as vast as the open sky above our great glass ceiling.
