In love-local
In the spring-time, the Sherwood Forest area really comes into its own with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy. In today's guest blog, Deborah Hibbert, from the Rufford Tourist Information Centre, gives us the low-down on what you can look forward to.
There is lots happening this weekend so get out and about and experience it for yourself. Rufford Country Park, pictured top, is playing host to the Grand Historical & Vintage Bazaar on Saturday and Sunday, a historical 'bring and buy sale' with lots of re-enactors dressed in costumes from different eras. Bring along those unwanted historical or historically-themed items and sell, swap or even give them away. There will be lots of things on sale including vintage clothing, games, uniforms and militaria. It’s sure to be a fun weekend for all the family. Please note that car parking will be £5 both days.
The RSPB will be in Sherwood Forest Country Park over the weekend. Join them early (7am) on Saturday morning for a Redstart Ramble, a gentle wander through the ancient woodland of Sherwood in search of the beautiful Redstart (a type of bird). You will need to book as places are limited so please call (01623) 823202. Adults are £5 and children under 12yrs £3 but it isn’t suitable for young children or wheelchairs users. Visitors are also being informed that no dogs are allowed. On Sunday the RSPB will be on hand to tell you all about the birds in your garden and how you can get involved in the Give Nature a Home campaign.
It’s lambing time in Clumber Park this weekend with a chance to see the new born lambs. Pop along to Hardwick Village in the park between 11am and 4pm and see the new additions. It costs £1 per child to see the lambs and £6.80 per car.
