Gabriel Saclain, founder and CEO of Silicon Networks, talks about their new website, Enqueer, dedicated as a live business guide for the gay community and what this may mean to Nottingham: Nottingham has so much to offer LGBT tourists. How do I know that? Well as a young British minority entrepreneur I had the pleasure of living here for four years and experienced its easy going, friendly and unpretentious gay scene. Enqueer is a project I founded in February 2012. Like any successful project it was born out of a genuine desire to solve a particular problem. In this case, the problem being that an LGBT tourist has no global, live, all in one comprehensive site which allows them to see what a city has to offer. Enqueer answers that problem, and has already grown to 525 global businesses with content being pumped in daily. This is great news for Nottingham's tourist industry as we are well and truly putting Nottingham on the global map! OK so Nottingham cannot rival Brighton or San Francisco for the size of its LGBT community and by extension it's Gay scene. But that's not the point here: by showcasing the very best of what it's gay businesses can offer as well as gay city guides to a global audience it can attract more LGBT tourists who otherwise may not have considered coming here or did not even know of Nottingham's existence. Over the coming weeks and months they will see that the city has a large gay superclub, trendy bars galore, fantastic shopping including independent boutiques, lush city parks and a large, vibrant gay community which celebrates a Gay Pride yearly. It is also close to the beautiful English countryside and offers great value for money for the gay traveller when compared to cities such as London. At Enqueer we believe that's well worth shouting about! Check us out at www.enqueer.com
