Have a go at... meeting the animals.

It was a warm sunny March when a friend and I decided to go for a trip around White Post Farm, and we were not alone. The car park was crammed with visitors from happy families with smiley babies, to groups of young friends looking for a fun day out. White Post Farm is home to a variety of animals that Old Macdonald himself would be proud of.  From the more traditional farm animals to Llamas, meerkats and wallabies (my favourites) - you might even find a few newborns to fall in love with (depending on the time of year). There are so many facilities to enjoy during your visit, from places to buy new pets (all too tempting – restrictions apply), to spots to eat and play – you could easily spend a full day here and still have stacks to do. Across the farm came opportunities to handle small animals including fuzzy chicks and friendly mice, and even exotic lizards and snakes in the reptile house. I opted to hold a chick and staff were on hand to ensure all animals were handled in the correct way to keep them safe and at ease. White Post Farm offers brilliant sensory experiences for young and old – alongside animal handling you have the option to feed them too (you can purchase food at the door for both two-legged and four-legged animals), and hygiene remains top priority throughout  – with hand washing stations dotted along the route. Perhaps my favourite place on the farm was the silver barn, where we were met by a menagerie of curious animals, eager to nuzzle at your hands, and give a big ‘White Post Hello’ in return for a handful of food. Here you are welcome to wander at your leisure, whilst feeding and petting the animals – and it’s all undercover. The noise levels were at a maximum throughout; a clash of excitable youngsters, people cooing and a real hoo-ha from the animals, who all seemed happy and at home in the busy environment. One of the most spectacular sites had to be Goat Mountain, a large metal structure built specifically for the more adventurous goats who just love to climb - you can even use a special pulley system to send some of your feed right to the very top (highly entertaining). The attraction was bustling all afternoon, and with activities both indoors and out, there was something to do whatever the weather. Luckily for us we enjoyed ample spring sunshine, and were able to take a long stroll outside by the lake, and to visit the larger animals in the outdoor paddocks. White Post Farm regularly holds events too, to make that family day trip all the more appealing.  On the day we visited, the Octonauts were on hand to entertain all young visitors – and even a few of the older ones! They have also added a fabulous new farmyard golf course to try! - Stepping back on the farm as young adults brought just as much joy as the trips there during my childhood. I’d definitely recommend a visit to White Post Farm and as they are open every day except Christmas day, there’s plenty of chance to do so.
