Be inspired by this new but old concept of weaving but using recycled saree silk materials. In this one-day workshop learn how to weave your very own silk purse! Using beautiful recycled Indian saree silk perfect your purse could be a phone pouch, make-up bag or even glasses case. Your silk purse will be fully lined and fastened with a button or zip. Your tutor, Sarah Cooke, will support you to create something beautiful and unique'. This workshop will take place in the converted arts & crafts barn at Hanwell Wine Estate, where you can relax and be inspired by the beautiful view that lay ahead.
What you will learn:
You will learn how to warp up a simple frame loom and weave a firm border. Then, using beautiful recycled sari ribbon and yarn, you will weave the purse, to the size and colours of your choice. You will then sew in a silk lining and finish with edging and fastening.
At the end of the day you will have the ideas and confidence to explore weaving on your own.
Who is the workshop for- Complete beginners and experienced weavers will enjoy this day, learning new skills and ideas.
What is included - All equipment and materials are included, but you can bring your own silks and basic sewing kit if you want. You can buy the loom at the end of the session if you want, for £18. Refreshments, snacks plus a 2 course lunch with a glass of wine is included in the workshop price as well.
