This gig sees the joining forces of 2 stars of Brirish Jazz, vocalist Rachael Calladine and formidable guitarist Nigel Price. Bringing great versions of jazz standards to Peggy's Skylight this is a gig not to be missed.
Rachael Calladine Rachael Calladine is a well-known face on the UK jazz and soul scene, having played many times with her band at all the famous London venues required to establish her as one of the UK's top jazz and soul vocalists, including 35 shows at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, most recently JUNE 2022 and numerous appearances at Pizza on the Park, the London Jazz Festival, the 606 Club, 100 Club and the Jazz Cafe to name but a few. Appearances include NYJO as vocalist and vocal coach (where she tutored the late Amy Winehouse), duo gigs with Ian Shaw and appearances with the late John Dankworth, Alan Barnes, Jim Mullen and many other British Jazz legends.
Nigel Price
Nigel is among the most highly regarded and in-demand guitarists on the UK jazz scene today. He spent three years with UK funk legends – the James Taylor Quartet, was voted No.1 in the 2016 British Jazz Awards for 'best guitarist' and is also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott's, where he's played around 600 times.
His band, the Nigel Price Organ Trio, winner of 'Best Small Group' in the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, are perhaps considered the most prolific UK touring band of the 21st century, having toured the UK 14 times. In addition to his live work, Nigel successfully stepped in to prevent the closure of the Swanage Jazz Festival in 2018 (he went on to become the director), was the director of Shepperton Jazz Club, and is on the team at Epsom Jazz Club. He is also the CEO of Grassroots Jazz, a charity created post-lockdown to keep struggling jazz venues afloat.
