Nottingham Operatic Society celebrate 130 years of creating the best musical theatre in this wonderful city, with a brand new production of the award winning musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Starring as Caractacus Potts (the role made famous by Dick Van Dyke in the original film) will be Bara Erhayiem and Mark Coffey-Bainbridge.
Emma Shute and Louise Grantham will share the role of Truly Scrumptious; Dan Armstrong and Shaun Hanrahan will share the role of Grandpa Potts; and James Ellison will play The Childcatcher.
Hot off the heels of his performance in the Leicester Curve's award-winning production of Billy Elliot, Leo will star as Jeremy Potts, sharing the role with Freddie; and Grace and Daisy will star as Jemima Potts.
The principal cast is completed by Simon Theobald as Baron Bomburst; Kate Williams as Baroness Bomburst; Nathan Curzon as Boris, Alison Hope and Linda Croston, sharing the role of Goran; and Paul McPherson as The Toymaker.
Originally written by Ian Fleming as a story for his son Caspar, it became the much loved 1968 film starring Dick van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes. A sensational score by Richard and Robert Sherman includes such unforgettable songs as Truly Scrumptious, Hushabye Mountain, Toot Sweets and, of course, its Oscar-nominated title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Chitty broke box office records in the West End and ran for three years, winning multiple awards before flying off to Broadway. This new production from the company that brought you sell out productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Sound of Music promises laughter, spectacle and magic, including the fantasmagorical fine four-fendered Chitty car herself!
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers, who also wrote Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, The Aristocats and The Slipper and the Rose. They won two Oscars, two Grammy awards, and over 20 gold and platinum albums.
