One of the brightest new stars of British Soul music, Jazz FM's 'Soul Act of The Year' Mica Millar performs a timeless collection of modern soul/jazz.
Amassing over eleven million streams on Spotify alone, Mica Millar and her highly revered debut album have been championed by the likes of Trevor Nelson, Jamie Cullum and Craig Charles at BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music as well as receiving five-star reviews and acclaim everywhere.
Mica won Jazz FM's prestigious 'Soul Act of The Year 2022' award alongside receiving a nomination for 'Breakthrough Act of The Year' and featured on the front covers of Blues & Soul and Echoes Magazine, the latter citing her album as one of the top 5 Soul records of the year. Since the album release, Mica has been playing on all major UK festival stages, has shared the stage with Gregory Porter, Lionel Richie and Gladys Knight, as well as selling out shows across the country.
Mica's debut album 'Heaven Knows' is self-written, arranged and produced, exploring themes of human nature, spirituality, love, oppression, inequality and empowerment, drawing inspiration from a plethora of vintage soundscapes, most notably, soul, blues, gospel and jazz. 'Heaven Knows' is a timeless collection of modern soul showcasing a new and unique voice in British music.
"A star with intense emotional sincerity is born. 'Heaven Knows' is an outstanding debut album that's awash with skilful balladry." – Blues & Soul
The Daily Mirror / Daily Express (5*) "A classy debut…her voice is amazing and her originals feel timeless and Euphoric. No wonder she's recently made the cover of Blues & Soul Magazine. "Better days come," sings Mica on the title track. They're certainly coming for her"
Echoes Magazine (5* & Soul Album of The Month) "You'll see the care and attention that's gone into this. It's definitely been worth the effort. This is top work for any artist, let alone one making their first solo set…As impressive a debut set as we've heard in a long, long time"
Wall of Sound (5*) "There's nothing remotely tentative about any of this. The songwriting is assured, the production consistently on the money and the voice…well that's the whole point."
"Outstanding. The future of British Soul Music is in very safe hands"
(Christian Bragg, Jazz FM Head of Music)
