Marquetery is a heritage art & craft where pieces of veneer are stuck onto an object, forming creative patterns & designs. When you join us for this workshop you will learn the basic techniques of geometric marquetry. You will cut hardwood veneers, assemble the marquetry panels and glue-up the items for your pendant. Then after finishing and polishing, your beautiful pendant will be complete and ready to take home.
What you will make: In this workshop you will be able to choose from two designs to create your own charming wooden pendant.
What you will learn:
Introduction to the tools and materials and how to handle them
Techniques including; cutting, assembling, finishing and polishing
Outline of the afternoon:
Welcome and refreshments
Introduction to the tools & materials
Start sticking backs onto shapes
Demonstration of "window method" cutting
Cutting the design
Demonstration of geometric assembly
Begin on geometric
Demonstration of sanding & lacquering
Afternoon tea & cake
Regroup for assembly of items
Recap & depart with your finished pendant
