National Justice Museum
Free

You're invited to drop into the National Justice Museum's Creative Courtyard and make something inspired by the museum collection.

Their creative sessions are free and open to all. Join them to make and create together and contribute to their growing museum! The sessions will be led by artists, makers, and writers, all influenced by this unique museum.

You do need to book your free ticket to attend.

September

Friday 6 September – Painting on Canvas
With artist Neelum Aftab you will make a creative response on canvas with acrylic paint to the 'Picture This: Hope' exhibition.

Friday 13 September – The Dream of Nature
In this drawing workshop, inspired by our exhibition 'Picture This: Hope', artist Marcia Porto will take you through creating imaginary landscapes.

Friday 20 September – Shapes and Shadows
Artist Suzanne Golden invites you to use imagery from our current exhibition 'Picture This: Hope' to explore shapes and shadows.

Friday 27 September – Embellish and Embroider
Embellish black and white photographs from 'Picture This: Hope' with embroidery, and carefully add colour to the elements that speak of Hope with Mary Broddle.

October

Friday 4 October – Liberty and Liberation
For Black History Month, you will explore liberty and liberation in a transfer print workshop with Paula Daniel Pontes.

Friday 11 October – Exploring a story
Co-production Creative Leader Ismail Khokon will explore the story of Cecilia Sanderson Mwenda, our project lab focus for Black History Month.

Friday 18 October – Drumming Hope
With artist Andy Harris you will explore the life of Cecilia Sanderson Mwenda through music and sound including African Djembes (drums).

Friday 25 October – Create and Make
In this workshop, inspired by our project lab, artist Donna Griffiths will take you through embellishing textiles with words and symbols for freedom.
